Weather
The clouds are sitting so low over Val this morning, it's difficult to see the mountains. It has been snowing fairly consistently for the past few hours, so there's a nice little layer on the ground. However, the 0°C Isotherm, the altitude at which the temperature is zero°C , is going to raise by the middle of the day , maybe all the way up to 2700m, meaning Val Village and our lower slopes could see some rain. Maximum temperatures today will be a mild +3°C at 2000m and -2°C at 3000m. The wind from the South/SW is set to pick up as the day goes on, getting up to 40km/h at 2500m.
Ski Report
It is currently not possible to ski to the bottom of the mountain. Depending on which sector you're skiing in, you'll need to take one of the following to descent the hill:
The Fornet Cable Car
The Olympic Gondola
The Solaise Bubble
The Le Daille Funicular
The Mont Blanc bubble
Bellevarde
The Tommeuses chairlift, which links to Tignes, is open allowing acces to Val Claret and Tignes Le Lac. The new Le Daille bubble or Mont Blanc lift is open, allowing access to La Folie Douce.
Pistes:
The top of the OK/Orange and Verte runs are open, but the bottom remains closed. Le Collet, Grand Pre, Diebold, Fresse, Borsat, 3J, Genepy, Moutons and Les Tines are all open.
Please stay off Le Face! It is being prepared by for the World Cup so has plenty of large vehicles working on it, making it very dangerous to ski down, especially with the poor visibility.
Solaise
The Solaise gondola, Glacier Express, Lessieres, Madeleine, Cugnai, Datcha Chairlifts and the PimPam drag lift are all open.
Pistes:
Lac d'Ouilette, Marais, Cugnai, Madeleine, Col de Madeleine, La Fourche, St Jacques, Glaciers and Lac Parc a Moutons are all open. Lessiere has opened for the first time today.
The Plan piste is under preparation at the moment, but is not ready yet, so as with all the other closed pistes, please stay off them.
Fornet
The Fornet cable car and Vallon bubble are open, as will be all the lifts on the Pisaillas Glacier, although, as usual they will open a little later.
Pistes:
Pont Abat, Pyramides and Col are open. On the Glacier, Les Champions, Montets, Moraine, Traversée des Arses, Pisaillas and Lac Cema are all open.
Off-Piste:
The Avalanche Risk is 2 due to the risk of windslab. And if you're skiing off-piste, watch out for hidden rocks and be properly prepared.
Walking Routes:
Plenty to choose from today: the Pont St Charles, Laisinant-Fornet, Manchet, Lac d'Ouilette, Les Sources and Le Daille paths are all open.
